How do I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment is simple. Either call or email us or try our easy-to-use online booking system. Simply choose the treatment you require, enter your details and make payment to secure the booking. Email confirmation will be sent to you upon completion. Our friendly reception team are always happy to help, so please do not hesitate to give them a call if you have any questions.
Are you taking on new patients?
Yes. We welcome patients of all ages on a private basis or as part of our monthly Membership Plan. We also have a Patient Referral Scheme where you can receive 25% off your next examination, when you refer a friend or family member. Discount will be applied after new patient has attended for the appointment. We look forward to welcoming you into our practice and helping you achieve your dental goals.
Can I register my children with you?
Of course. You don’t have to be a patient of the practice to register your children. We offer a private ‘fee per item’ option as well as our Kid’s Membership Plan, which is a simple way of keeping up with regular routine appointments without the worry of unexpected bills.
You are welcome to bring along one child, up to the age of 4 years old, for a free dental examination each year, provided you, the parent or guardian, are registered as a patient at the practice and have an active membership plan.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
We understand changes arise from time to time. If cancellation is necessary, we require that you contact us at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time. You can find further details in our Cancellation and Missed Appointment Policy.
How do I book an emergency appointment?
All emergency appointments are released on the morning of each day. They are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis and are charged at the time of booking. This charge includes one temporary filling, a prescription or refixing one crown. This charge does not include x-rays, permanent fillings, extirpation or extraction. If you would prefer to wait for your routine appointment, you can book on the next available date. Any further treatment need, arising from the emergency appointment, will be discussed and a treatment plan will be provided.
For all unregistered patients please call the practice, to discuss your options with our reception team.
What do I do if I have a dental emergency, outside of your opening hours?
We always keep our answer phone message and social channels up-to-date with the latest information of what to do in an emergency, outside of our opening hours. Should you have a dental emergency outside of the practice opening hours, please call Cardiff and Vale 24/7 on 0300 10 20 247. This service is provided by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, which is responsible for commissioning dental services in our area.
What is a Dental Therapist?
A dental therapist is a highly trained and qualified dental professional who provides a range of dental care services with a focus on preventive and routine care. Dental therapists can perform various procedures, including fillings, milk teeth extractions, cleaning and scaling of teeth, applying fluoride treatments, taking X-rays, and providing advice on oral hygiene and nutrition. They play a crucial role in promoting oral health, particularly in the context of kids dentistry. While dental therapists work under the supervision of a dentist, they can perform the majority routine restorative dental procedures, allowing dentists to focus on more complex cases. This collaborative approach helps ensure that more people have access to essential dental care and can maintain optimal oral health.
What does ‘Direct Access’ to a hygienist mean?
Our practice allows direct access by patients to the dental hygienist and dental therapist, for our hygiene services without a prescription from the dentist. Direct access treatments are available to existing and new patients. New patients who do not wish to see a practice dentist will, at their appointment with the hygienist or therapist, be given information on the limitations of the treatment that the hygienist or therapist can provide and be advised of the need for a full oral health assessment by a dentist. Direct access is available for the full scope of practice of our hygienist and/or therapist.
Whether you are a registered or un-registered patient of the practice and would like a professional clean, please speak to a member of our reception team or book online, to arrange a suitable visit.
Do you offer dental plans and how can I join one?
Yes, we offer affordable dental schemes via DPAS Ltd, to enable all patients to access care throughout the year, by spreading the costs monthly and applying discounts where possible. Joining a plan is simple. You can call or email our reception team, who will take a few quick details from you, in order to send an ‘at home’ sign up link or alternatively, you can sign up in practice by providing us with your details. All confirmation emails will be sent via DPAS Ltd and Direct Debit payments will be shown as DPAS Ltd.
How do I find the practice?
We are located on Greenfield Avenue in the Vale of Glamorgan, just behind the Texaco garage. We have free roadside parking available. If you travel by public transport, we are a 7 minute (0.3 mile) walk from Dinas Powys train station and a 16 minute (4.6 mile) drive from Cardiff city centre.
Can I leave feedback?
Yes, we welcome all feedback to ensure we are providing the best possible service. If you are happy with the care you have received, we would love you to leave a review for our team. If you have any concerns, please get in touch with us via our Contact Us option.
What is the DPAS Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme?
Whilst you are a member of a dental plan administered by DPAS Ltd, you are eligible to make a request for assistance under the DPAS Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme. Please check the Scheme handbook – Level A carefully to be sure ‘the Scheme’ meets your needs. It has been established to offer support and assistance to dental plan patients who request treatment following a dental trauma and/or dental emergency or diagnosis of oral cancer. It is a wholly discretionary scheme, not an insured scheme.
Are you sustainable and environmentally friendly?
To reduce the amount of paperwork we produce in our practice and to make life easier for our patients, we have introduced electronic forms for you to fill in ahead of your appointments, at a convenient time to suit you. This will replace many of the forms you would usually complete in practice. This change helps us reduce our impact on the environment. We are fully aware that this is not accessible for all our patients and we would welcome a phone call to inform us, if this is the case. Our helpful reception team will be happy to complete these forms with you over the telephone, to ensure they are completed prior to your appointment.
